Casual 70's Girl

Just something small for you guys. I had my eye on this beautiful blazer-like jacket from Forever 21 for the longest while. Lucky for me, I ended up getting the last one in my size! It has somewhat of a tribal-exotic print to it. On my way to school, I just paired it up with a black marina and black leggings from Giant Tiger. Excuse my socks and flats (LOL)...my feet were cold! I've been getting compliments on my twist braid hairstyle. I love it too! Its really easy to do...YOUTUBE it! There's not much you can drastically change as yet since Canada is struggling to enter warmer weather, but you can definitely work on the 70's feel if you're into trends. Although I'd love to throw on the short shorts...it's not quite the time yet. Until then, spice it up a bit with a cool and funky 70's inspired print.

Sasha honors the Sari...

If you know the city of Brampton, you'd know that there is definitely a dominant culture. South Asia (you would say "Indian") is represented BODLY in Brampton which happens to be my hometown since the sixth grade. Nothing and nowhere has influenced me more "culture-wise" than my fellow South Asian community. No matter how you put it, if you live in Brampton you are somehow impacted by this community.

The "sari" is a garment that is delicate. I admire it for its ability to shape a woman out and emphasize curve. My main concern was making sure I wore it well. I wanted to know that if a South Asian person saw me in this garment, they would be proud of their culture. I achieved that. Although I was the only one wearing a sari at the wedding, discomfort is far from my vocabulary and should be far from yours. Make a statement. You are set apart.

I challenge everyone to step out of their comfort zone and experience something culturally new. It is a breath of fresh air. Congratulations to my newlyweds, Chauntelle and Dane. God has definitely put you two together.

A little tummy shall we?...

Nakeshia and I. I'm not the only one with a unique swagger, huh?

Apple doesn't fall too far from the TREE!

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree AT ALL. They used to say to me all the time, "Sasha, you love fi dress up JUST like yuh faddah!" In other words, I had a love for dressing up just like my father. And indeed it was true. I was always very boastful with my appearance mainly because I enjoyed creating my own look (I was also born a Drama Queen). Now that I'm older and everyone is getting used to me looking great (wink wink, theres the boastfulness lol), I've noticed my 5'10 /ELEVEN year old sister doing the same (yes, 5'10)! I guess my older sister and I have a lot to do with it, but I am just in awe of how well this kid can dress herself lately!I mean, the leather jacket...Dereon halter...skinny jeans! I'm SO HAPPY she's walking in her confidence!

This is her chance to get a bit of shine, since she is usually my camera man and all. AND she looked great today! You can critique if you'd like, but remember...she's ELEVEN. I'm not trying to apply makeup nor tweeze eyebrows at this stage! She's gorgeous being young AND stylish.

GARCIA'S 11YR OLD SISTER IS NO DIFFERENT. COMING SOON...

SOMETIMES "YOU GOTTA DO IT YO' DAMNNNN SELF"

Sometimes, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. And last week, that was "play make-up artist". Now, I did go to a performing arts school with the privilege of doing make up for a lot of theatre performances, but that DOES NOT mean that makeup is exactly my forte. Stage makeup and everyday makeup are two different things. So, this was definitely a challenge for me. Don't worry, Garcia and I will be taking classes soon! Preparing for a shoot of ours is what we were doing in this post. It turned out VERY WELL. Thanks to our enthusiastic model, Schevon, and our photographer, Jorian. Luckily, I found out that my makeup hand wasn't all that rusty. And our Pink Bow Wrapped dress looked amazing on Schevon.
