FAT Toronto with Real Talk TV

"I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity."
- Oprah Whinfrey

It's super amazing how opportunities that I never dreamed of are falling right into my lap! A few months ago, I did an audition for an up and coming Lifestyle TV Show by the name of Real Talk TV. Fortunately, I was one of the hosts chosen for the show and its been a blast ever since! The awesome thing about it is being able to go to shows (without having to pay!), backstage passes, cool clothes and meeting awesome people within the fashion industry. My segment on the show is Plus Size fashion and it's been an awesome few weeks filming.

Last night I was on set at FAT (Fashion Arts Toronto) fashion shows with Real Talk TV! Other than our FRONT ROW SEATS and gift-bags, I was extremely excited to interview plus size and alternative model, Bella Mitchell, who was an absolute doll. She took the time out of the busy backstage hustle and bustle to give us an insightful interview! This year, FAT brought to Toronto over a dozen designers that have included plus sizes within their line! I'll say I was very pleased. Special thank you to the FAT team and to Bella Mitchell for her patience and time!

I decided to make it easy for myself and throw on one beautiful piece from Forever 21 Plus. I just loved the neckline cutouts and the shade of bright blue. My pink wedges are from Torrid and my earrings are courtesy of Canadian designers, Knox & Marley!

EARRINGS: One thing I've noticed about these earrings is that they bring a certain level of drama while still keeping it classy. I LOVE that. As a matter of fact, I just love a noticeable earring. Go BIG or go HOME!

Special shout out to my Mom who took some of the photos above!

Hope all of you are doing well!

Somewhere, Somehow.

"Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure
- Oprah Whinfrey

You're probably cursing us out saying, "WHERE THE HELL HAVE THEY BEEN?! *side eye*"
I know, we deserve a spanking! This time of year gets so busy for us though. Most of you know that we put on an annual fashion show, "Flawless", around this time of year and it really takes up almost ALL of our time! But no more excuses! We love you guys and that's all that matters. Lets make ya'll happy again! haha.

So this Easter Sunday, both Garcia and I were in service trying to distress and rejuvenate for the week. I've had this mesh-coat-thingamajigger  from Forever 21 in my closet for QUITE some time. When I saw it for 7 bucks, it was on clearance and looked like NO ONE wanted it. Sure enough, I bought it and I decided that it NEEDED to be worn somewhere, SOMEHOW. I paired it with these tribal harem-ish looking pants also from Forever 21 and my brown suede system heels from Torrid. I've always wanted to wear this mesh coat with a bodycon mini, but there's always next time! Plus, it was a bit chilly on Sunday! Something simple for you, hope you like it!

Block That Colour

And the sun has come out once again! And I'm taking advantage. The weather in Toronto has been so up and down lately, so I thought I might as well show some leg while it counts! This year, colour-blocking is one of the biggest trends. A lot of people have been talking to us about how to achieve the colour-block look successfully. My advice would be this: If you aren't sure how to put it together, try finding a dress that already does it for you. In this case, I did it myself by just pairing two bright colours together. Think threes. Number 1: Top. Number 2: Bottom. Number 3: Shoes. Pick three bright colours and WORK IT OWWT! Try not to go with colours that are too similar to each other. Often times what happens is that you can't tell the difference in colour and you don't end up getting the pop that you were initially going for.

This blue top is an older thrift item of mine, while the skirt is from Forever 21. My lovely wedges are from Torrid, who ALWAYS takes care of my feet!
It was a very casual kind of day for me and I love it! Hope you all enjoy!

Garcia xoxo
