Growing up is a trap, and don't let anyone tell you differently! As much as I love the freedom that being a "grown up" comes with, I miss being a kid! I miss the small things like matching outfits with best friends, school dances (so lame lol) and refusing to wear anything but Air Forces, even in the summer. The one thing I wish I could have back is a stress free life. Adulthood can be tough and right now I'm feeling it with work, career choices, school, friendship drama and the list goes on. But, I'm slowly learning that growing up doesn't mean the fun has to stop.

Transitioning into womanhood means a lot of things. A lot of your opinions are changing. A lot of your goals are either being met or being re-evaluated. And often times...your sense of style takes a turn for the best and sometimes sadly for the worst. Well, for me, just shy of the big 2-5 by 4 months, my style has changed without me even noticing it. In every aspect of my wardrobe, less is indeed MORE. I've learned that a whole bunch of relatively "cheap" pieces put together don't necessarily make for an amazing outfit. Often times it's the core pieces like a great coat or a great pant/jean that REALLY pull you and your look together.

My aim is to find as many clean cut Olivia Pope-like coats as possible before this Winter ends. I'm convinced that no girl's wardrobe is complete without an EXCEPTIONAL coat. Now, I know EXACTLY what you're going to say. "Finding a winter coat that fits your curvy body is enough of a struggle; much less fashionable coats like trenches and such." I know! This is why I've made it my mission! And this time...Forever 21 prevails. Gone are the days where I dress well from head toe just to throw on an ugly winter coat for survival! Don't you just hate that?

When you're a size 24 in Canada...all things "fashion" become a tad bit more difficult. Let's just say it plain... Big girls don't have much option here if they want fashion versatility. Although Canada is taking baby steps to give the plus size girl more options, a trip to the mall is still more of a mundane window shopping experience. This is the sad truth...we've known this. So when I walked into Old Navy and saw this chic powder blue coat IN MY SIZE, I just had to have it. Ladies, these are things you DO NOT leave behind. I know at times we get so picky because we're either ballin' on a budget or we just aren't sure we can pull it off. But listen, keep the receipt just in case! Don't miss out on a powerful piece just because doubts got in the way.

Minimalism. I'm learning to listen to myself in every single aspect of my life. What I've found is that I'm happiest without all the fluff. Without all the extra stuff that comes with "being on fleek" in life. And it applies to my clothing choices too. There was a time when I would want 'MORE'. More of everything. More jewelry, more garments, more makeup...shoot, more hair! But really, it wasn't me. Sure, I looked good in it, but one hour in and I would be ready to tear it all off!
What's the point?
